Over 100 days later…

Well, I am now over 100 days post transplant. Things are going well, my counts are very good, my only problem is a GVHD which is now officially chronic. Weird thing it is only managable by one certain drug at the moment it seems, but that manages it well, so I stay on it. I can take it for up to 18 months.

I decided one of the important things for me now is building some stamina and ensurance so I started “jogging” again. Actually I used my new training chair for it, and man, did I need an hour to recover after cca. 1 km in medium speed? Huh, it is not vene funny how gorram out of shape I am! I hope within a year I’ll be ready for 10 K though! I know building up my strength is a key to my health, so I better start working on that. I discussed it with my specialist (Kevin) and we go running together every other day or so now.

…that all three of my kids are now enrolled at Krav Maga classes. The neurologist suggested we enroll Matthew in some kind of martial arts classes as they help with balance, utilize the plasticity of the brain and a billion other things, so we started to look in to classes. First we were looking at judo but really, the only classeswe found that were affordable, close enough and sans Eastern philosophies and/or mysticism was Israel’s very own Krav Maga. (Of course my kids always point out that Imi Sde-Or was born in Budapest, just like them.)

Yeah, so piano and Krav Maga. That’s all.

Ok, ok, I know it is now closer to Yom Kipur than Rosh Hashanah, but still. So I hope everyone will have a wonderful and prosperous and sweet 5769. I don’t know why, but I have a feeling this year will be special. Did I say this last year, too?

A brief health update: things are going well. My counts are going up, up. up and the GVHD is now under control. Of course I still have to be careful with infections and I tire super easily, and still struggle with side effects–including that chronic back pain issue–but I’m getting better. This time my doctors are very hopeful, as engraftment is complete and as good as it can be at this point. So things are good in that area.

I started working for my dad and surprisingly, I enjoy most of my work. I mostly write English or Hungarian documentation for the services and products, check translations between these two languages, interpret if I need to and make coffee.

My kids are doing well. The twins’ vocabulary now far far far exceeds mine, and Craig just got his evals this school year, and he is doing really well. He enjoys the new challenge and I can see he is thriving in the new environment.

I just recently fell in love with a song, again. Look at the video and understand why!
